A woman from the United States decided to divorce her husband after he gave away her beloved cat to an animal shelter without her knowledge or permission on Reddit app.
The woman was said to have travelled for a few days, leaving her cat, Benji, in the care of her husband. However, upon her return, she was devastated to discover that her cat was nowhere to be found.
When she asked her husband about the cat’s whereabouts, he revealed that he had given the animal away to a local shelter.

The woman was understandably upset by her husband’s actions and has since filed for divorce. She stated that the cat was not just a pet but also believes that it is a reincarnation of her dad, and she could not forgive her husband for betraying her trust in such a callous way.
“When I look into his eyes, I feel something more than a cat. Like a cat born with a human soul. All the timing adds up, it all makes sense to me at least. Even if I am crazy the thought brings me comfort and I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
The woman said that her husband has started to feel like her attachment to Benji is ‘strange and unhealthy’.
The woman shared that her husband expressed discomfort with the strong connection she has with her cat, which she believes embodies her late father’s soul.
Despite her husband’s reservations, she revealed that her feline companion, Benji, has been a great source of comfort for her in the two years since her father’s passing.
She expressed gratitude for the bond she shares with Benji, stating that he has been the perfect companion during a difficult time in her life.
The anonymous woman posted on Reddit asking if she overreacted by making that decision.
