A Kenyan man by the name Masani Junior inquired if he can pay his dowry through bonga points and Safaricom answered giving the client hope about the issue.
This was shared in Safaricom’s Facebook timeline on Sunday, April 23 when the two parties exchanged a conversation. Masani asked the question then Safaricom later on responded in the comments section explaining that the points can be redeemed by dialing *126#.
Dowry is a form of marriage settlement given through an amount of property or money.
“Hello Safaricom, can I use bonga points to pay dowry for my wife, asking kindly,” Masani wrote.
The telecommunication company responded, “Hello Masani, yes you can. Please ask your in-laws if they have a Lipa na M-PESA till, if they do, you can use Lipa Na Bonga by dialing *126#ok.”

Safaricom launched the loyalty program on October 13, 2017, and is available to prepay and post-pay subscribers. Loyal customers can earn/redeem bonga points when they enroll on the program by dialing *126#. One gets one point for every ksh10 spent on the network.
“Bonga Points can be redeemed for rewards ranging from talk-time (minutes), data bundles, MMS and SMS bundles to merchandise redeemable at select retail outlets and at Lipa na MPESA Buy Goods till number and select Pay bill numbers countrywide,” Safaricom stated.
