In a world filled with fascinating animals, a new record has been set, and it’s not what you would expect. The Guinness World Records has recently announced the planet’s shortest living dog, Pearl, a two-year-old chihuahua that is about the size of a dollar bill.

It’s easy to see why this petite pup has won over so many hearts worldwide. Measuring just 3.59 inches tall and 5 inches long Guinness said in a statement. This lovable chihuahua is nothing short of adorable.
Pearl, the current record holder for the world’s shortest living dog, is actually related to the previous record holder, Miracle Milly. However, Pearl’s connection to Milly is indirect as she is the offspring of one of Milly’s identical sisters. Unfortunately, Milly passed away in 2020, before Pearl was born.

‘’Pearl weighed less than an ounce when she was born in September 2020, shortly before Milly’s death. She has since gone up to 1.22lbs (553g), thanks in part to her predilection for chicken, salmon and other similar “high-quality food,’’ Pearl’s owner, Vanesa Semler, said in a statement published by Guinness.
“We’re blessed to have her and to have this unique opportunity to break our own record and share with the world this amazing news,” added Semler
According to Vanesa, Pearl is comparable in size to a ball and just slightly taller than a teacup. Despite being a chihuahua, Pearl has a very calm demeanor, which impressed onlookers. Even though she is almost three years old, Vanesa says that Pearl still retains her playful and youthful spirit.
Vanesa has three other dogs, but they are all of average size. She added that Pearl is the only diminutive one in the group.
Following that television appearance, the group noted for keeping a database of over 40,000 world records said that Pearl’s veterinarian, Dr Giovanni Vergel, measured her three times in short succession at the Crystal Creek clinic.
He measured each measurement “in a straight vertical line” from the base of Pearl’s front to the top of the ridge between her shoulder blades before sending his findings to Guinness, according to the organization.
Pearl’s story is truly a remarkable one, capturing the hearts of animal lovers around the world. Her tiny size and adorable demeanor have made her an instant sensation, and her record-breaking achievement only adds to her charm.
