The disastrous organization in Paris has been cited as the main reason behind the ticket refund for Liverpool fans who attended the 2022 Champions League final
A recent independent review found that UEFA bears ‘primary responsibility’ for the chaotic scenes where Liverpool fans were indiscriminately sprayed with tear gas before the final, leading to a 38-minute delay. Real Madrid won 1-0.

On Tuesday, as reported by CNN, UEFA’s statement read,
“UEFA will implement a special refund scheme for fans who were most affected when accessing the Stade de France on 28 May 2022.
“Refunds will be available to all fans with tickets for gates A, B, C, X, Y and Z where the most difficult circumstances were reported.
“Given these criteria, the special refund scheme covers all of the Liverpool FC ticket allocation for the Final, i.e. 19,618 tickets.”
UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis has pointed out that UEFA recognizes the ‘negative experiences’ of the supporters on the day, affirming that those who had bought tickets would be refunded.
UEFA and France had initially blamed the standoff on ticketless fans but eventually conceded to Liverpool’s appeal for a review. Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League final ticket allocation was 19,618 tickets. The commission disregarded French authorities attempts to pin the May 28 incident on ticketless supporters, claiming that Liverpool fans were clearly roughly recorded to have arrived three hours prior to kickoff.
