On Sunday, Gor Mahia beat Bidco United 1-0 at Nyayo National Stadium to extend their lead ahead of KCB in second place to five points; Benson Omala on target
Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala continues with his impressive form after securing the win for Gor Mahia in the FKF-PL fixture on Sunday. As reported by Nation, with 15 matches to play Omala is just 7 goals away from bagging the title of all-time FKF-PL goalscorer, a record kept by Maurice ‘Sonyi’ Ochieng since 1976 (Gor Mahia)
The win marks Gor Mahia’s first in three after a 2-1 loss to Mathare United and a 2-2 draw against Nzoia Sugar. Gor Mahia started on the front foot against Bidco, dominating possession and finding the back of the net in the 16th minute through Benson Omala.
In the 26th Minute, Gad Mathews cleared Erick Gichumu’s effort off the line. Omala was later stretchered off the field but head coach Jonathan McKinstry dismissed fears of a serious injury adding, “It is not a serious one and I’m sure he will be ready for our next match. We played well, covered our opponents but they also missed some good opportunities. We had not won in our last two matches and this brings back our confidence.”
GorMahia have 41 points from 19 matches. In their respective encounters, the chasing pack of KCB, Nzoia Sugar, and Tusker all dropped points.
