Gachagua: I will name those who looted billions in Uhuru’s government

DP Rigathi Gachagua has said that he will publish an audit report giving details on the billions of shillings stolen under former President Kenyatta’s regime.

While addressing a congregation on Sunday 5 in Roysambu, Gachagua claimed that the petition filed to counter the August 2022 general election results by Raila Odinga, was a strategy to loot at least Ksh 24 billion from the National Treasury.

According to the Deputy Head-of-state, the petition was a distraction to give the top officials in Uhuru’s government at the time, the opportunity to loot. He said that the Cabinet Secretaries and their Principals were the masterminds behind the heavy loot. He added that the loot allegedly took place between the time when President William Ruto was declared the winner on August 15 and the time he was sworn into office, on September 13, 2022.

“In the next few days, I will be releasing details of billions looted from the public coffers in the last three months of the Uhuru administration and announce the ministers and Principal secretaries responsible so that Kenyans can know,” Gachagua said.

“Between the time IEBC announced the results and the time William Ruto was sworn in, they looted more than sh24 billion in this country yet they knew the petition was going nowhere,” he added.

He explained that just 2 days before the August 9th, 2022 polls, a total of Ksh 6 million was looted from the COVID funds and that Uhuru’s government covered it up by ‘buying’ Telkom shares.

“Money was stolen from Covid when people were dying. Two days before the August 9 General Elections, they stole Sh6 billion and pretended to sell some shares from Telkom,” he said.

He stated that the money acquired through illegal means was ferried by officials to Wilson Airport, to an unknown location. He went ahead to compare Former President Uhuru and Raila as two pickpockets who steal from people but when the alarm is raised, they turn the tables and point fingers at you instead.
