Manchester United had to fight back and earn a point at Old Trafford and Leeds United put in a tactical masterclass that almost paid off. Six players were ruled out heading into the Leeds fixture. Antony and Martial are out injured, while Casemiro serves his three-match suspension. Scott McTomminay, Christian Eriksen, and Donny van de Beek are all injured.

Leeds United opened the scoring after just 56 seconds, silencing the Old Trafford faithful. Wilfried Gnonto beat De Gea from just outside the box with a powerful low drive. A one-two passage of play between Gnonto and Patrick Bamford and United trail. The Red Devils clearly showing a gap in defensive midfield as Casemiro remains suspended. On Monday, Leeds sacked head coach Jesse Marsch.

United looked out of place as Leeds kept their intensity as a good defensive performance by Lisandro Martinez kept them off. Alejandro Garnacho had the chance to score after rounding Leeds goalkeeper Meslier but his shot on goal was cleared off the line by Leeds defender Max Wober.

Rashford appeared to be playing out of position, despite combining well with Dalot on a few occasions, as most of United’s chances came from the left wing through Garnacho. United loan signing Marcel Sabitzer was in good form and had several attempts on goal, drawing out a superb save from Meslier through a left-footed shot, after twisting and turning the Leeds defense.

United hold off late chances by Leeds through great defensive work by Lisandro ‘the butcher’ Martinez, who throws himself at the ball as Gnonto has a clear chance on goal. Perfectly timed, and United survive the eight added minutes.
