Real Madrid were firm favorites heading into the fixture and they looked to stamp their authority early on. Vinicius Jr scored in the 13th minute and five minutes later Valverde doubled Real’s advantage.

Al-Hilal striker Moussa Marega scored against the run of play to give the Asian champions hope of getting more from the fixture. A quick counter-attack after Tchouameni is robbed in midfield leads to their first goal.

Real Madrid hold on to possession and hope to score one more heading into the break but Al-Hilal came closest to an equalizer but penalty appeals, by Aldawsari after what looked like a foul by Rudiger in the penalty area, are waived.

In the second half, it took less than 10 minutes for Los Blancos to find a third. Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema gets a cross from Vinicius Jr and he finishes with the first touch.

Valverde scores again, just 4 minutes later after a good link-up play with Carvajal down the flanks. Carlo Ancelotti felt it was time to make a change and Benzema and Tchouameni come off in place of Rodrygo and Dani Ceballos.

Real respond immediately and Vinicius Jr scores the final goal of the Club World Cup Final. He beats Al-Mayouf with a curler after initially losing the ball and it fell kindly to him from teammate Ceballos.

In the 79th minute, Vietto punishes Madrid after a miscommunication error between Camavinga and Lunin to score in an open net. 5-3!

Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti added to their four Club World Cup titles from 2014 to 2018 and made sure European teams won the previous ten competitions. Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti are the only managers to have won the FIFA Club World Cup three times each.
