It’s the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, whether Qatari Shiekh Al Thani or Sir Jim Ratcliffe becomes the new owner after making an official bid for Manchester United, is all that remains to be decided.
The ‘Red Devils’ will soon be under new ownership after an official bid for Manchester United by the Qatari QIB bank chairman, beating the Friday deadline. Manchester United’s previous owners, the Glazers family, had been at the helm for 18 years. Controversy struck the Glazers when they eagerly supported the European Super League alongside top clubs, a move that led to a lot of backlash from fans.
The Glazers came under intense pressure and announced they were open to selling the club in November. The Americans in 2005, bought the club at £790m ($1.34bn). Fans have always been complaining about their ownership and management since the downfall of United after Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.

Britain’s Richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe put in his rival bid for Manchester United ownership. The INEOS chemicals company owner is reportedly worth £ 15 billion and is a United ‘boyhood’ fan. Speaking to theTelegraph, a source close to his company INEOS said,
“His aim is to be a long-term custodian of Manchester United and set the standard for a progressive approach to club ownership.
“As locally born, he wants to put the Manchester back into Manchester United.”
The club’s share price has increased significantly over the past two days; in fact, the increase is greater than Saudi Arabia’s PIF paid to purchase Newcastle United.
