Kenyan President William Ruto has urged the European Union to put up to speed the process of the economic agreement deal with the East African Community.
Speaking on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, during the Kenya-EU Business Council forum, Ruto said that access to the European Union market will enable Kenya to expand its export and also create employment opportunities.
The Head of State said it is one of the remarkable mediation that can make a massive difference to our economic performance and there is an excellent reason, for the EU’s agreement deal.
Ruto identified that despite agriculture being the source of the job-creating sector, exporters still face challenges with quality standards and infrastructure among other issues.
“I believe that continued consultations and collaboration can unlock these barriers and smoothen the path for stronger trade relationships,” Ruto said.
Ruto also outlined some of the key strategic areas he has worked on to make the country a business-friendly destination.
“We have an open, liberal, and business-friendly regulatory regime underpinned by a strong reputation for the rule of law. I wish to confirm to you that I have made progress in implementing undertakings to pursue solutions,” he stated.
