Kenya has received donations from the U.S. Agency for International Development worth Ksh 16 billion in order to curb the ongoing drought in the country.
According to USAID, the funds will help in solving the quick needs of about 1.3 million people across Kenya.
The additional food assistance to Kenya comes in the middle of an ongoing drought that has left more than 4 million people in the clutch of an alarming hunger crisis.
After a signal of a Fifth failed rainy season in the Horn of Africa, the growing rainfall in Kenya is now less than 70 percent of the 30-year average across most of the countries exacerbating humanitarian needs.
USAID will give out emergency food commodities including Vegetable Oil, Maize, Sorghum, and Yellow Split Peas for families living in areas where local markets are not functioning.

The agency will also support programs to prevent and treat child malnutrition, figuring out to at least 970,000 children ages Five and below are acutely malnourished across Kenya.
Kenyan President William Ruto has significantly welcomed the idea which comes following the United States of America First Lady Jill Biden a three-day visit to the country.
