Chelsea head coach gave a statment after the fixture,

“He’s (Azpilicueta) in hospital, so he’s in the best place. He’s conscious and he was speaking to his wife so that’s good. We were obviously really concerned, especially when it first happened, but hopefully he’s in the best place and we’ll keep monitoring him.

“I think he was unconscious when it happened so we have to take all the precautions we need to take now and make sure he’s okay, but it was worrying. It was a horrible incident.”

It was a disappointing result for Chelsea but the Blues will be more at ease with thier skipper finally getting stable enough to be stretchered off the field, albeit after 12 minutes of treatment on the field.

The loss piles pressure on Chelsea manager Graham Potter as his team sit in tenth place and face Tottenham away on 26th February.

Nick Pope Gets Sent off as Liverpool Win Against Newcastle

Liverpool closed the gap between them in 8th and 4th position in the Premier League to just 6 points after an away win at Newcastle United. Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez scored early in the first half to seal the win.

Liverpool ave now done the double over Newcastle in the Premier League this season, and remain the only team to have beaten them in this campaign. The Magpies are now in a four-game winless run ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United. Nick Pope’s ‘moment of madness’ in the first half saw the goalkeeper handle the ball outside the penalty area, a decision that saw him sent off.

Substitute goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is eniligible for the fixture after featuring for United earlier this season and this means that former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius, infamous for his 2018 UEFA Champions League mistakes against Real Madrid that cost Liverpool the final, will be in goal.

Newcastle United controlled the opening exhanges between the two sides with Allan Saint Maximin giving a standout man of the match performance, with an effort tipped onto the post from Liverpool goalkeepr Alisson, 30 minutes into the game.

Speaking to SkySports Saint Maximin said, “I think we played very well. We had the first chance with Miggy [Almiron] and after that they scored straight away. It was painful, but we just kept going to try to create more chances. Even with 10 men, we kept playing very well. We still had many chances, so I think it’s very positive to see how we can play with 10 men.”

Liverpool have hit form at the right time, ending a three-game losing run away from home ahead of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture against Real Madrdi before hosting Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League.
