Shocking news has come out of Kisii, where six teachers from Itumbe DOK Primary School have been arrested after a disturbing video of them circulated online.
The video, which quickly went viral, shows the teachers encouraging pupils to engage in inappropriate behaviour, while they make inappropriate comments.
The six teachers, Everline Moraa, Gladys Kenyanya, Angelicia Joseph, Moraa Nyairo, Cathrine Mokaya, and William Isoka, have been taken into custody by the police. The video caught the attention of the Ministry of Education and led to a visit to the school by Nyamache Sub-County Director, Linet Onduso.

The police seized the teachers’ phones as part of their investigation, trying to determine who filmed and shared the video on the internet, and what the motives of the teachers might have been.
Police boss, Kipkemoi Kipkulei, and the County Director of Education have joined forces to decide on the best course of action to discipline these teachers. The situation is being taken seriously, and swift action is being taken to ensure that children are protected from any further harm.
“We have confiscated their phones. We questioned them and they told us that one pupil reported to them about what they were doing at break time. That they only wanted them to demonstrate to them what they were doing, we will establish from their phones who posted or shared it. Such an incident is unethical and it damages the name of the school. The pupils are also minors and we wonder what motive the one who gave it out (the punishment) wanted,” Kipkulei told Nation.
