Kiambu family is in agony after the hospital refused to let their son be discharged until they pay the medical bill worth Ksh 250,000 debt.
John Munga Ng’ang’a was badly injured on December 29 last year after falling from the second floor of a building in Gatudnu, Kiambu county.
The accident left a 10-year-old with head injuries and the family had to look for a medical alternative with immediate effect.
“We did not get even placement at Kiambu District Hospital. We were told to look for a private hospital so that our child can be treated,” said Ng’ang’a’s mother.
“We were told by the Gatundu Hospital to wait for them to look for a government hospital,” Ng’ang’a’s mother added.
The family was then referred to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after visiting Gatundu Level 5 hospital as reported by TV 47, Kenya.

Ng’ang’a’s mother expressed her fear that the medical expenses would continue to increase as they have no money to settle the current bill and her son continue to stay at the hospital. On the other hand, the hospital has refused to take their National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) card leaving them more of questions.
