Kenyans Mourn the Death of Veteran Journalist Kasavuli

Veteran journalist and prime-time news anchor Catherine Kasavuli died following a battle with cancer on Thursday, December 29, while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National hospital.

Following the news of her demise, colleagues in the media, politicians, leaders, and Kenyans condoled the family and praised the late veteran role she played in the industry and the country as well.

President William Ruto, First lady Rachel, opposition leader Raila Odinga, and DP Gachagua, among other leaders and politicians, expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the late veteran.

Ruto described the late TV legend as “a cheerful, articulate, and intelligent news anchor who took to television with unprecedented flair”.

“Her pleasant smile, clear steady voice, and elegance made her a welcome presence and reassuring bearer of news to Kenyan living rooms for decades,” the President said.

He further added that when Kasavuli took over the TV screens, countless Kenyans watched her with great admiration and many children grew to emulate her.

“Today, Kasavuli’s legacy endures, most notably in the distinctively crisp, fluent, and articulate elocution we are all accustomed to in Kenyan broadcast anchoring,”

“I pray that God comforts her family in this time of mourning and that her soul rests in eternal peace,” Ruto said.
