On Instagram, the comedian captioned, ‘TOOK A MATATU RIDE with my Ride or DIE ❤️❤️❤️ this matatu is branded PAPA FRED I feel so humbled by this immense support since last year🙏’
Papa Fred is a Fictional Character by the comedian that exposes money laundering, popular to his fans as ‘wash wash’.
Last year in January, American Rapper and Grammy Winner Cardi B tweeted in excitement expressing the feeling.
The influence of MatwanaCulture cannot be overlooked. Argue with me all you want but ‘there’s no better street cred than being branded on a ma3’. Those are the words of Veteran musician and radio presenter Nazizi.
Other than musicians and comedians, the Matatu Culture also recognizes influential people and sports personalities. Inspirational world marathon record-holder Eliud Kipchoge has also been featured on a matatu for inspiring the whole world.
The Matatu Culture lives on and is described by Forbes, in 2017, as the practice of pimped-out, color-exploding, happy-tatted local transit buses.
