Alfred Mutua has travelled to the middle east to address issues facing the migrant workers especially for the cases of mistreatment in United Arabic states.
The cabinet secretary in the ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alfred Mutua has travelled to the United Arabic State (UAE)t to address issues facing Kenyan migrant workers, precisely the surging cases of mistreatment in the middle East states.
Early on Monday October 31, Alfred Mutua met with the agents representatives seeking for clarification of the issues and how the government can put measures to help.
“I have held a meeting with representatives of employment agents who recruit Kenyans for jobs in Saudi Arabia and other regions,”
The meeting was informative, with complex mind boggling revelations and a deep cry for help in many instances,” Mutua said.
He assured Kenyans that the outcome of the meeting would ensure the migrant workers get a good working environment while in foreign countries.
The travel was initiated by his meeting with the Saudi Ambassador Khalid Abdullah Alsalman on October 28.
“This visit follows his meeting with the Saudi Ambassador H.E. Khalid Abdullah Alsalman last week on October 28, 2022 where they held discussions touching on various issues, central of which was the welfare of Kenyans working in Saudi Arabia,” the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also provided information that the visit would also open more opportunities for Kenyans in the country.

“While in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Mutua will also explore other issues of interest to our country including various forms of direct & indirect investments, export market opportunities, and other forms of bilateral trade, as part of his intention of increasing Kenya’s inflows from the diaspora from the current Ksh.400 billion to over Ksh.1trillion shillings per year,” said the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
