The Glazer family’s 17- year reign could be coming to an end as owners decide to sell the club on a statement issued on Tuesday.
The Americans in 2005, bought the club at £790m ($1.34bn) . Fans have always been complaining about their ownership and management since the downfall of United after Sir Alex Ferguson departure.
From BBC Sports news, a statement from the club said the board will “consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company”.
It added that the process “will include an assessment of several initiatives to strengthen the club, including stadium and infrastructure redevelopment, and expansion of the club’s commercial operations on a global scale” to enhance “the long-term success of the club’s men’s, women’s and academy teams, and bringing benefits to fans and other stakeholders”.
On that same day United had come to a mutual agreement with their superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
The Glazers have been unpopular with supporters ever since a £790 million ($934 million) leveraged takeover in 2005 burdened the club with huge debts.

There have been frustrations from fans to the owners due to their decline in performance since Sir Alex Ferguson exit 9 years down the line.
United has not won any premier league title since Ferguson final campaign in 2012/2013 without winning any trophy from that time till 2017 under manager Jose Mourinho.

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
“We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximizes the significant growth opportunities available to the club today and in the future,” added Avram and Joel Glazer, the club’s executive co-chairmen and directors.
The move to sell United comes after Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said Fenway Sports Group were “exploring a sale” of the Anfield club.
