Drought Committee on Tuesday released Pay Bill, Bank Account details that will allow Kenyans to donate cash to help people in counties affected by the drought.
The Committee led by Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said that Kenyans who are willing to donate funds can do so through the provided means.
The provided methods include M-PESA Pay Bill 880990 using their name as the account number or through the National Drought Mitigation Appeal Fund under KCB Bank, Riverside Branch through account number 1305486137.
In the funding process, the Pay Bill will also on the other hand be available to Airtel Money and Telkom’s T-Kash subscribers as well.
The committee was given a role to establish a private sector-led Drought Mitigation Appeal Fund under the Auspices of the Kenya Red Cross and mobilize resources to supplement the Government’s drought response efforts.

President William Ruto announced the formation of the committee last week to lead the efforts to mitigate the impact of the drought situation in the country.
The 15-member team which was commissioned on Friday last week will report directly to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Further, the committee will also oversee interventions to cushion affected populations from the effects of the ongoing drought and partner with the National and County Governments.
