England suffered a huge blow after Ben Chilwell had to be helped out of the pitch after picking up a hamstring injury.

Chillwell was in action yesterday in a match that Chelsea won 2-1 against Dinamo Zagreb in Stamford Bridge.

He went down at the end of the game, clutching his hamstring and was helped by Chelsea staff. The England star shed tears with the World Cup literally less than three weeks away.

The fullback had just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that he sustained last season. He had already worked his way back to full fitness and was almost certain to make it into Gareth Southgate’s squad.

“It’s a blow for us on an otherwise positive evening. It’s a blow to see him pull up like that, it’s not a great sight. So fingers crossed when we get the scan it isn’t bad, it can be not severe, but we have to have fingers crossed at the moment,” Graham Potter said.

This is the latest injury on table for Chelsea Football Club following Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

However Gareth Southgate will have to wait and be hopeful despite the current situation for Chillwell not being promising enough.
