Babu Owino today has warned the Ministry of Education against increasing Varsity fees, claiming that most students come from poor backgrounds.
The Embakasi MP having led the students union before, explains he understands best what learners go through in campus and ready to fight for them.
“Increasing university fees is tantamount to a felony because the university students come from various backgrounds majority of whom come from very poor backgrounds having been at the university and as a student leader, I know the pain that these comrades go through, the HELB that is being given at the moment is not even enough,” Babu explained.
The lawmaker threatened that if there were any attempt to increase the fees, he would mobilize comrades all over Kenya in a demonstration at the State House to stop the increment.
