Adamson Bungei is the new Nairobi Police Commander Amidst New Changes

Bungei replaces Manasse Musyoka as the new Nairobi police commander.

Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, has named Adamson Bungei the next Nairobi police chief. Bungei replaces Manasse Musyoka, who was yet to take up the role, a week after being appointed to replace James Mugera, who has now retired from the military.

Bungei was previously the OCPD for Buruburu and Central before being transferred to Baringo two years ago. Munga Nyale was also transferred to Kenya Police Headquarters as director of police reforms.

These new service changes would affect 13 top police officials, including Abdallah Komesha, former head of personnel at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters and now the Inspector General’s new main Deputy.

Boniface Maingi, the former National Police Service Director of Personnel, has been appointed Director of Operations, succeeding Rashid Yakub, who has been assigned to lead the Community Policing department.

Judy Lamet, the director of Vigilance House’s Child Protection Unit, was elevated to deputy director of police operations. Jacinta Muthoni has been designated director of personnel at the police headquarters in Vigilance House.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki stated that the adjustments are part of the efforts to address the increasing crime in the city and other metropolitan areas.

He stated that a new command structure, which includes personnel from different security organizations, is under strict orders to put an end to muggings and other violent crimes in Nairobi as soon as possible.

The changes are immediate.
