England crush Wales while USA beat Iran to reach the round of 16 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Rashford scored a brace and Pulisic scored the winner for US.
Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford and Manchester City’s, Phil Foden, inspired England to a 3-0 win over Wales in their final group-stage fixture at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. News that the USA had taken the lead in their fixture against Iran in the first half, meant that England would have to win to top Group B.
Rashford scored in the 50th minute from a stunning freekick following a fowl on Manchester City and England midfielder Phil Foden.
Starting his first game at the World Cup, Rashford scored and, according to APNews, dedicated his goal to a friend he recently lost to cancer. A minute later, Phil Foden made it 2-0 for England, Harry Kane with a sublime assist across the goal.
Marcus Rashford completed his brace in the 70th minute. The striker would have got a hattrick late in the game but Wales goalkeeper Ward pushes it away for a corner. Ward was in goal following first-choice Welsh keeper Wayne Hennessey’s red card against Iran.
The win secures England a spot in the Round of 16, scheduled for Sunday. The Three Lions face Senegal, the African champions, at the Al Bayt Stadium.

USA Make It To The Round Of 16
USMNT has been knocked out from the World Cup at the Round of 16 in the past two World Cup editions in which they qualified. In 2014, they lost 2-1 to Belgium and in 2010, they lost 2-1 to Ghana. The last time the USA won in the Round of 16 was in 2002.
Despite it being an all-to-die-for fixture, neither team came out of the blocks with the intensity to win. A few minutes of pressure in the opening minutes led to an injury on Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand who needed a few minutes of treatment before being substituted at the break.
Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie’s inch-perfect pass for Dest to provide Chelsea striker Pulisic with an assist. The only goal of the fixture was scored in the 38th minute.
The rest of the game was tense and with few chances created. A late claim for a penalty for Iran was waived.
The USA will face the Netherlands in the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium.
