Barcelona defender, Sergi Roberto’s chances of making it to the Spain squad for the World Cup are dim after picking up a serious injury in yesterday’s match against Athletic Club.
The Blaugrana confirmed that Roberto dislocated his shoulder in the game and would not be recovered until after the World Cup.
The Spaniard played exceptionally well in the first half and stood as a contender for Man of the Match after scoring Barcelona’s second goal of the night, before his injury.
Roberto had to be stretchered off the pitch in the second half after what looked like a serious injury to the Spanish player.
Despite the injury setback., Barcelona still emerged victorious with a 4-0 victory over Athletic Club.

According to sources close to Barcelona’s team doctors, Roberto’s chances of making it to Spain’s squad for the Qatar World Cup 2022 are in ruins as the doctors have confirmed that he will be out till after the World Cup is over.
“The first team player Sergi Roberto has a dislocated left shoulder. He is unavailable and his recovery will dictate his return,” read a statement by the club.
