Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, issued a statement expressing his concerns, blasting the government on the approach to drought and famine in Kenya.
Raila said that lifting the ban on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) is not the solution to drought in our country Kenya.
He further added that the programme to import GMO products from foreign countries is a move to benefit a few allies of the President in Kenya.
Azimio leader has criticized the government for the approach they want to use as it will now produce a good outcome to the current famine situation in most parts of the country.
He has read malice in the governments plan to lift the ban on Genetic Modified Food (GMO).
“As if the indifference is not bad enough, top government officials seem to be scheming to benefit personally from the drought. That is the logic behind the rush to allow genetically modified foods into the country. For the leaders, the drought and famine provides a chance to make a kill, pay back the big foreign backers and align with those corporations for the future,” Raila said in an interview with Citizen TV.

He is fight for Kenya as a country claiming that Kenya should not be used as a dumping site for unhealthy products.
“We believe that introducing them into Kenya in the current state of international uncertainty is to use Kenyans as guinea pigs, which we shall not allow. Even the poor and the hungry ought to have their rights and dignity protected,” Raila stated.
