According to NTSA, the matatu violated traffic laws in Kenya by honking while driving on the highway and by transporting passengers who had parts of their bodies outside the car.

“The driver and the two conductors have been arrested. They will be charged accordingly. We urge all road users to remain vigilant and speak out against such behaviour,” read the NTSA statement.

For hooting, the owner will part with a Ksh3,000 fine while travelling with part of a body part outside the vehicle attracts an instant fine of Ksh1,000.
