Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah finihed off a superb long-range pass from teammate and goalkeeper, Alisson, in the 76th minute of their Premier League fixture on Sunday to win it 1-0 for the Reds. The win reitarates that Liverpool FC is still a force to be reckoned with despite being 8th on the log with 13 points and a game in hand.
Pep Guardiola’s men, Manchester City, trail league leaders Arsenal by four points.
VAR Strikes!
Before Mohammed Salah opened the scoring, Man City midfielder Phil Foden had his celebrations cut short after referee Antony Taylor disallowed his goal. Foden’s strike was disallowed after VAR showed a foul by Erling Haaland on Fabinho in the build-up.
In a statement to Sky Sports, Manager Pep Guardiola said,
“The referee came to the coaches and said, ‘play on, play on’. There were a million fouls. But after we scored a goal, he decided it is not play on. This is Anfield.”
“We had [enough] chances. We had some fantastic chances.”
“All the game we were brave, we played the game we should play and I don’t have any complaints or regrets over how we have done it.”
“We had chances but not enough to do it. We made a good process to not allow them transitions. In general the back three was brilliant.”

Klopp sees Red
Once again Referee Antony Taylor showed the Liverpool Manager who’s boss. A straight red card to Manager Jurgen Klopp following an aggressive altercation with one of the linesmen. Klopp went irate after Bernardo Silva appeared to have fouled Mohammed Salah, right in front of the assistant referee, with the Citizens breaking away.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Reds Manager said,
“In the end, probably deserved. But, that situation, you cannot not whistle. After all the things that happened on the pitch, I don’t know what Mo Salah has to do to get a free-kick.
“Pep [Guardiola] and I agreed on the touchline. We didn’t understand the challenges which were allowed and all these kind of things.”
