Popular fast food chain, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), has hiked the menu price for the third time in less than a year.
The most popular packaged food in Kenyan streets KFC’s Streetwise-2 is now retailing at Ksh 450.
The price has risen by 28% from the previous menu price in December 2021, when the package was selling at Ksh 350 before it was increased to Ksh 370 that same month.
The street package, which comprises two pieces of chicken and chips was retailing at Ksh 390 a week ago.
The fast food company is yet to officially communicate the reason for the hike in prices.
The new upward price review has come in the wake of a rapid rise in the prices of food items, electricity, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
It has renewed pressure on food chains and restaurants that had just begun registering rebounds from the downturn of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cooking oil and flour prices remain high due to supply issues and disruptions in the country worldwide.
