Former Harambee Stars Captain and midfielder, Victor Wanyama, played his last match, for FC Montreal Impact, in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday.

Victor Wanyama’s FC Montreal Impact lost 1-3 to New York City FC on Sunday in their final game of the MLS season (conference semifinals). This marks the end of the former Tottenham midfielder’s on-field performance at the Canadian club.

Montreal Impact were eliminated in the semi-finals at Saputo Stadium, finishing second in the Eastern Conference. Victor Wanyama, however, still has just over 2 months left on his contract which expires on 31st Dec 2022.

What Next?

The 31-year-old defensive midfielder has not yet announced his next move, but an exclusive interview with Football Scotland last year highly suggests that he could be considering a move back to Scottish Giants, Celtic.

In a statement, Wanyama said,

“I had a contract at Tottenham and they were very difficult to let me go, the demands were very hard”, he said.

“Celtic was a club that I would love to play for again and again. It’s more than a club. I enjoyed my time there.”

“I honestly want to come back and give it a last go because I love the club, the people there, the fans, just everything there was great. They give the players everything to go on the pitch and perform. Everything was just on top.”
