Bad Bunny, Drake, and Beyoncé to Win Big at The 2022 American Music Awards

Eight nominations, including his first-ever nomination for Artist of The Year, Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican performer, is set to win big at The 2022 American Awards.

Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston hold the current record for most American Music Awards in a single year. If Bad Bunny wins in all his nominations he would join them in the Legendary space. Drake, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift follow in on Bad Bunny with 6 nominations. Bey and Swift are therefore the best female artists of the year.

Taylor Swift is in the record book for most wins in the artist of the year category (six). She also holds the record for most AMA wins overall (34).

Future, Adelle, The Weeknd, and Harry Styles received five nominations each. First-timer Jack Harlow and Nigerian female sensation, Tems, bagged 4 nominations. Other first-timers include Latto and Black Pink.

The American Music Awards will be live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, 20th November on ABC. A host has not yet been announced. Cardi B hosted last year’s show.

It is a major win for Afrobeat artists in the 2022 American Music Awards Nominations. Despite the Favorite Trending Song Category being scrapped, the AMAs introduced the Favorite Afrobeats Artist Category. Tems has been nominated for this category alongside ‘essence’ collaborator Wizkid, Burna Boy, CKay, and Fireboy DML.
