4 officers from the DCI’s Special Service Unit to face the law

NAIROBI; Kenya’s Four (4) police officers from the DCI’s disbanded Special Service Unit -SSU will face the law on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, following the disappearance of two Indian Nationals.

Speaking in Nairobi, Kahawa Law Court- Chief Magistrate Diana Mochache said that she will deliver a rule of law on neither to grant an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions –DPP nor to hold the suspects for 30 more days.

Dunstan Omari, the suspects’ lawyer said that the officers have significantly challenged the jurisdiction of the court to probe and hear the matter, which they state can be handled through disciplinary structures provided for under the National Police Service Act.

On the other hand, the Chief Inspector of Police and three Police Corporals were arrested last Friday in connection with the July 25 disappearance of two Indian citizens, Mohamed Kid-wai, and Zulfiqar Khan, and their driver Nicodemus Mwan-ge in Nairobi County.

The Indian Nationals are believed to have been invited into the country to help President William Ruto’s UDA party with election preparedness but went missing under unclear circumstances.

The disbanded Special Service Unit from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations-DCI was all the time accused of how they were operating especially in dealing with criminal cases.
