Baringo County Deputy Governor Charles Kimaiyo Kipngok passed away on the evening of Wednesday, September 14 at Jomo Kenyatta International airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
Kimaiyo collapsed and died while boarding a 7:00 pm KQ flight heading to Mombasa.
According to the information from the Kenya Airways Communication department, the deceased developed breathing difficulties while boarding a flight to Mombasa scheduled to depart at 7:00 pm.
“Kenya Airways PLC (“KQ”) regrets to announce that a passenger developed breathing difficulties this evening while boarding KQ612 that was scheduled to depart at 1900hours,” reads part of the Kenya Airways position statement.

According to the JKIA corporate communication, Charles Kimaiyo was pronounced dead before the flight took its surface to Mombasa.
“The passenger was pronounced dead by the medical personnel at JKIA while the aircraft was still on the ground,” the statement reads.
However, the JKIA management has promised to handle the matter and give directives to Kimaiyo’s family as the entire team convey their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the late deputy governor Charles Kimaiyo Kipngok.
Deputy governor Kimaiyo’s death comes amid governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir’s swearing-in event that is set to take place in Mombasa.
