Baki tu nyumbani: TikToker cautions Kenyan women to refrain from asking fare

TikToker cautions Kenyan women to refrain from asking fare

The majority of Kenyan men find asking for fare excessively demanding of a woman, and popular Kenyan TikToker Skyv Ken feels the same way.

Instead of concentrating on the widespread practice of some women squandering their sent fare, Ken cautions ladies to avoid the demining section of it.

As for him, the woman is essentially being paid for her time, which he emphasizes is a lowering of standards, he considers the action demining.

“Asking for a fare as a lady is demining yourself. I don’t care the distance. If you’re not willing to go and meet him, please just stay at home. The moment you ask for that Ksh 500 or Ksh 1000, you’re basically saying my time is worth this amount,” narrated Ken.

In the now-viral video he shared on his TikTok, he implores women to respect themselves by using their own money rather than trying to scrounge some from the man.

“I’d rather you just go, use your money. If he pays for your cab back, then that’s okay. At what point does your dignity come first? Who came up with this narrative?”
he continued.

Then he advises women that once a call for transport is made, they essentially enter into a contract that is paid for by fluid exchange.

“And the truth is, if he has to pay for your transport, you’ll have to pay for his time. And unfortunately, you pay for it with your own body. Please stop asking for fare. If your not willing to meet him, just tell him, “I am not coming”,” said Ken.

He concluded by pointing out that requesting fares is an addicting activity that often results in respect loss.

“The moment you get into that system of “send me fare”, you’ll never stop, and they’ll never respect you,”

But given that so many people agreed with him, he appears to have spoken for the majority.
