The Ugenya MP David Ochieng of the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party and former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma who were in Azimio have stated their support for William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.
As the Azimio Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga held a meeting with his elected leaders in the Western region to discuss the heightened defections by members, the President-elect Ruto received two members of the Azimio in his Karen residence.
President-elect William Ruto received the leaders’ urging the uphold unity and work in togetherness for a better future for the nation’s growth and development.
“I welcome my friend Mr. Ochieng and the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party to be part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition. We have been in constant consultation and today I am happy to report that we have signed the agreement,” said Dr. Ruto.
Mr. Ochieng said the MDG party’s manifesto aligns with that of the Kenya Kwanza coalition as he referred to a fallout with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in 2017 that saw him forming his party.
“We are here because we feel we are in agreement with what Kenya Kwanza stands for. I must say I am delighted by the fact that the President-elect has promised not to leave any part of the country out in his development agenda,” said Mr. Ochieng.
Further addressing his joining of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition as having been a tactical move to see him retain his seat in the just concluded elections.
“I must assure you that we shall work together and reach all the corners of the republic. It is by working together with all the leaders that we shall realize our dream as a government,” he added.
Mr. Ochieng and Mr. Ranguma are the latest defectors from the Azimio Coalition after the former Mandera County Governor Ali Roba, who also owns the UDM party defected.
