Magoha said the closing of all basic education institutions will take effect from Tuesday, August 2, and will report on August 10, a day after the August 9 General Election.

“As you are all aware, Kenya is scheduled to conduct its national elections on August 9,” Magoha said while addressing the press on Monday, August 1,

Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the government’s decision on the immediate closure of ALL basic education institutions with effect from Tuesday, August 2, until Wednesday, August 10, ” as stated in the press statement.

As the country approaches the election in seven days’ time, CS Magoha declared that a government decision has been taken to clear the way for the country in preparation for and conduct the election.

Magoha, on the other hand, urged all school administrations and parents to follow government policy, framing the break as a half-term holiday that will begin on August 2 and end on August 11.
