It’s your Actions Not Tears: Martha tells Ruto

Ruto Martha

Azimio Deputy Presidential Candidate, Martha Karua, has told off Kenya Kwanza flagbearer, William Ruto, that Christianity is more about good charachter and not tears, following a recent viral video showing him shedding tears as he prayed during church service.

On Wednesday while in Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, during Azimio campaigns at the County, Karua took out on the Deputy President following a recent video of Ruto breaking down from immense emotions during a church service.

The Narc-Kenya party leader, threw a fine-drawn punch at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), clarifying that being religious as a Christian does not entail showing one’s tears, but rather one’s doing.

“Watu wawache kujidai ati wao ndio Wakristo…Ukristo sio jina, sio kwenda kwa kanisa na ata si machozi, ni tabia…Kama wewe ni Mkristo, kuwa na tabia ya Ukristo, penda watu, wacha kiburi na vitisho. Kuwa mtu wa kunyenyekea vile Kristo alinyenyekea,” Karua proclaimed.

“Wacha Ukristo wako ujitangaze, si wewe kututangazia. Jesus Christ has no deputy…stop pretending to be his deputy on earth, he belongs to all of us.”

Karua also fired a hot ball at her critics who seemingly question her faith and that of the Azimio leader Raila, responding that people can only be judged by God who has that authority.

“I joined politics before some of my rivals…you have found me in politics while going to church but in this late hour, you want to doubt my Christianity? Wait for judgment by Christ when we all go to heaven,” she stated.

“They have found my boss (Odinga) serving in Parliament as a Christian in the Anglican Church like me, who are they now to start claiming he is not a Christian? Si kila mtu anasema ‘Yesu Yesu’ ataona ufalme wa mbinguni…leave us alone and do your own campaigns.”

Ruto later addressed the congregation and described the forthcoming election as a spiritual war than a political contest.

“I think for the first time in Kenya, this election is more of a spiritual battle than a political contest and that is why we have all manner of things that are going on today,” said DP Ruto
