Governor Sakaja: King of Blued Nairobi City

Sakaja wins governor of Nairobi

Nairobi has massively painted the city blue in the election of Azimio leaders in several elective roles from the members of the county Assembly, to the parliament, and senate even though Sakaja of UDA led in the gubernatorial race.

Nairobians have voted in Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party’s candidate Edwin Sifuna as the Senator of the city and Esther Passaris winning the Women representative role.

Sifuna who has been declared the city Senator was announced to have won the ticket after bagging 716,876 against UDA’s Bishop Margaret Wanjiru who polled 524,021 votes.

As announced earlier today by the Nairobi County Returning Officer, Albert Gogo, Edwin Watenya Sifuna was duly elected as Senator of Nairobi City County.

The Nairobi’s Woman Representative seat is yet another win solidifying the Azimio coalition. The incumbent Esther Passaris managed to defend her seat against her rival for the lead, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Millicent Omanga.

Esther Passaris managed to garner a total of 698,929 against 586,246 Omanga’s votes in the region.

However, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance candidate for the gubernatorial race Johnson Sakaja who was battling his way against Igathe Polycarp of Azimio la Umoja has won the County Boss’s seat.

Sakaja, who was running on a UDA ticket, managed to outclass Jubilee candidate Polycarp Igathe garnering 699,392 votes against his 576,516 votes.

Sakaja has been bestowed an obligation to lead a diverse margin of voters from both Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio la Umoja that make up Nairobi.

Azimio coalition MPs elected in Nairobi who they are to work with in togetherness; include members from ODM include; Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Tim Wanyonyi (Westlands), Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), George Aladwa (Makadara), Tom Kajwang’ (Ruaraka), Peter Orero (Kibra) and Antony Oluoch (Mathare).

Other members who won through the Jubilee ticket; Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Amos Mwago (Starehe), and Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji) carried the day.

The Kenya Kwanza Coalition secured leaders who included; Benjamin Gathiru (Embakasi Central), Mwafrika Augustine Kamande (Roysambu), and James Gakuya (Embakasi North), and John Karie (Dagoretti South).

Two wards, Utawala and Kwa Reuben did not hold elections for assembly representatives, which have been rescheduled for August 23—not forgetting Karauri who won the Kasarani seat on an Independent ticket.

Johnson Sakaja amazed the city settlers with his performance and demonstration of understanding how and what Nairobi needs in the debate with his colleague Igathe.

Citizens await the fulfillment of the Lets Make Nairobi Work slogan, a city of Dignity and Honor.
