The smartphone penetration in Africa continues to grow as consumer choices surge up for better-performing devices.
According to the GSMA report of 2020, 495 million people subscribed to mobile services in Sub-Saharan Africa, representing 46% of the region’s population.
This is an increase of almost 20 million on 2019. With more than 40% of the region’s population under the age of 15, young consumers owning a mobile phone for the first time will remain the primary source of growth for the foreseeable future.
The report further states that over the period to 2025, 4G adoption in Sub-Saharan Africa will double to 28%, compared to a global average of 57%.
Consumers purchasing powers have also changed when it comes to selecting smartphone brands. Most consumers are very selective, among the things driving consumer choices are; the need for ultra-high specs, great power, and high-speed browsing in smartphones.
These trends have transformed the sales of smartphone units in Africa and other developing nations globally.
This has also set up a competition niche among smartphone brands in Kenya and Africa at large.
Realme the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand in Africa, recently introduced the realme 9 (4G) smartphone in the region as an addition to the number series catalogue.
“The realme 9(4G) has ultra-high specs to power a growing demand for high-speed browsing, comfortable gaming and takes movie watching and photography experience to the next level. Mildred “The realme number series is popular with young people across other markets worldwide because it provides a premium imaging experience that exceeds expectations from start to finish. We also expect a positive reception in Kenya as we unveil this incredible model.”
Samsung ISOCELL HM6 leverages the latest NonaPixel Plus technology, upgraded from the traditional 3Sum-3Avg solution to an unprecedented 9Sum readout solution, and brings superb brightness to photos taken by realme 9. In practice, the 9Sum Pixel Binning solution from NonaPixel Plus technology improves the overall light intake by 123% compared to the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 image sensor.
Unlike the traditional 3-average technology of HM2, this technology truly combines 9 pixels into one. Due to the 100% pixels equipped with PDAF, the focus accuracy of HM6 is 9 times higher than HM2. Bringing you a fast-focusing experience can make it easier to take clear and good-looking photos.
“Moreover, after the actual photo comparison, realme finds that the low-light photo shot on realme 9 is significantly brighter with better color reproduction, making it a must have for growing popularity of street photography.” Mildred alludes.
The realme 9 has also adopted the advanced 10240-level brightness auto adjustment, it can adjust the screen’s brightness based on the ambient light to give you the most comfortable viewing experience possible.
“We have infused the corner protection design strengthens the fuselage corners, effectively reducing the risk of screen breakage. In addition, all interfaces of the body are arranged with tight waterproof measures to prevent spills effectively. To match these rising demand for daily power use, it is equipped with a 5000mAh massive battery that also comes with the 33W Dart Charge, to get the battery fully charged in just 75mins. interestingly it can be charged to 50% in just 31mins.” Mildred affirms.
The new model is not just made to charge faster and retain power longer, safety during the charging process has also been taken to another level, leveraging the Intelligent Five-core Chip solution. It protects the phone from Adapter overload, interface and voltage overload as well as offers overcurrent and battery fuse protection.
These 9 series are the first phone in the market with an exterior made through the world’s first ripple holographic design solution, a levelled-up trendy design building on innovations from realme 8 Pro’s fluorescent design to 9 Pro’s Light Shift design.
