Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala’s stepmother has disembarked from the Kenya Kwanza brigade, declaring that she will devote herself to ensuring Malala loses to the ODM party’s Fernandes Barasa.
Jackeline Okanya said that her son actively campaigned for her opponent, Rashid Echesa, in the Mumias West MP election rather than supporting her.
She asserted the Kenya kwanza coalition had requested she resign and back Echesa’s bid.
“My son has been openly campaigning for my opponent, Rashid Echesa.”
“Kenya Kwanza is demanding me to step down and support him, can’t women make good leaders?,” posed Okanya.
The Kakamega County lawmaker Cleophas Malala is facing a blow after his stepmother did the opposite.
Malala’s stepmother, Jackeline Okanya, is also a candidate for the Amani National Congress (ANC) in Mumias West.
Okanya stated that her strolling moment to the Azimio faction provides a new plan to help Raila and Karua, as well as other coalition candidates.

“I ditch Kenya Kwanza to Azimio to help Raila and Karua ganner the Mumias west votes. I have come to help my governor Barasa and Savula to become our next governor and deputy governor”, said Okanya.
According to verified data, Mumias West Constituency has a total of 53,317 registered voters for the August 9 election.
The MP seat has attracted interest from Rashid Echesa of UDA, Benson Makhokha of UDP, and Martin Oloo of DAP, who seek to unseat the sitting MP under ODM party Johnson Naika.
