Raila Amolo, Azimio la Umoja’s One Kenya presidential candidate clarified the ongoing talks of intentions to boycott the elections in case the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) fails to deliver a manual poll register.“We will not boycott elections; we are not cowards. But the IEBC has to ensure there is the security of votes and the voting process to curb any malpractices. Elections won’t be stolen at least not on our watch,” Raila said while at Kirinyaga.Martha Karua emphasized the need for the selection of a leader who will ensure the public resources are protected and safeguarded since one’s wealth cannot be able to sustain even his village alone leaving alone the country. This comes after an earlier allegation by Suna East MP Junet on the probable plan to interfere with the elections by the addition of pre-marked votes during the count.Junet speaking at Kabete emphasized that the Azimio teams’ main goal is to win the elections and they have no time for fighting and stirring violence.“We want IEBC to do elections that are transparent, accountable, verifiable, free, and fair. We
have realized there has been a plan to intervene and mess with the transparency of elections by sneaking in the pre-marked ballot papers. A conspiracy between Wetangula and Wafula Chebukati as they have been in meetings numerously. Wetangula has sent someone called Makokha Abdala to Greece where the ballot papers are being printed, this means there is something cooking but this time around we are alert and well planned,” said Junet.Junet had urged Chebukati chairman of the IEBC to come clean on the issue and clarify to the people of Kenya what could be going on.Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua while completing their tour of Mt Kenya within Kirinyaga yesterday cleared the air about boycotting of elections. The former prime minister affirmed to the citizens that he won’t boycott the elections insisting that Azimio isn’t made of cowards but IEBC shouldn’t try any malpractices in this coming elections.Raila further asked his supporters to stay around the polling stations and assist the old as they come to exercise their right of voting. Also, urging them to stick around until when the IEBC will close, count and even announce the results of the vote count.
