Nyayo, Kasarani Stadiums Out of Bounds for Political Rally

Trouble and mayhem were inevitable when both Azimio la Umoja and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) booked the same venue, Nyayo Stadium, for their last major rally ahead of the August 9 General Election.

However, Sports Kenya has come through to tame the situation by declining to offer either party the chance to use the stadium for the political rallies since peace concerts will be ongoing.

In a letter, Sports Kenya said: “We regret to inform you that due to peace concert scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sports Center- Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between August 5 to August 7, 2022. The facility will not be available for their use.”

With either party set to stage mega rallies seeking to implore Kenyans to back them, a storm had been brewing since the Azimio la Umoja coalition and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance had scheduled their last rallies at the same venue.

As both parties are expected to hold their last major rallies on August 6, Azimio la Umoja had hinted at doing their last mega rally at the stadium while Kenya Kwanza Alliance had also stated that their last rally would be at Nyayo stadium.

August 6 will be the last day of campaigns before Kenyans decide their fate.

Since candidates are not allowed to campaign or hold rallies two days before the polls now the nation is left with 18 days away.
