Uhuru to Ruto: Mature Politically First

President-Uhuru-in-Nakuru

President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Nakuru residents to vote for Azimio la Umoja flagbearer, Raila Odinga, in the August 9 General Election.

During the commissioning of the Nakuru Railway Station, President Uhuru talked about the handshake between him and Azimio leader Raila Odinga, saying it was meant to unite Kenyans and achieve peace as had been the same scenario when he embraced William Ruto.

The president openly called out the Kenya Kwanza Presidential candidate William Ruto, saying the entire Kenya Kwanza brigade should take some time off to mature politically. Uhuru said the focus should be to unite Kenyans despite their political differences.

“Hawa wengine ni wetu lakini inakaa they need time ya kutulia, kuwacha matusi, kuwacha spidi mingi na kujua ya kwamba kazi na ukweli inashinda matusi na chuki,” President Kenyatta said.

“Let them stay like that for now, there is still time, and there is no problem.”

The President defended his handshake with Odinga, saying they opted to clear their differences with the opposition leader to ensure unity and peace in the country.

President Uhuru said he previously had joined hands with Ruto in the spirit of building bridges between their communities, and that he intended to do the same with Raila.

“Ama kutafuta ni kitu kibaya? Msimamo wangu umekuwa kudumisha Amani. Wakati nilisema tushikane na wakalenjin na Ruto si kulikuwa na Amani?’ He posed. “Wakati nilienda kutafuta Odinga, nilifanya makosa?”

President Kenyatta also urged the residents of Nakuru to support the Azimio La Umoja affiliated candidates saying they would help Raila’s government deliver its mandate.

“Na hawa wazee wetu hata kama mumekubali kuunga huyu mzee (Raila) mkono, sasa jamani kama hana wafanyakazi itakuwa aje?” Uhuru added.
“Sasa Lee Kinyanjui hapa anataka amalize ile alianzia… Arama amalize… Senator ako hapa, Woman Rep pia na MCAs.”
