Outgoing President, Uhuru Kenyatta, appointed a Transition Committee that will oversee the handover of power to the next President.The team includes head of public service Dr.Joseph Kinyua, Interior Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi, principal Secretary Dr.Karanja Kibicho, Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai, Chief of the Kenya defense forces, Gen. Robert Kibochi, National Intelligence Service (NIS) director Philip Kameru, an advocate of the High Court Anne Amadi, immediate Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, AG Kihara Kariuki, PS Jerome Ochieng, PS Julius Muia, PS Macharia Kamau, PS Julius Korir, PS Joe Okudo, and Solicitor General Ken Ogeto.

The Assumption of the Office of the President Act No.21 of 2012 establishes and constitutes the Assumption of the Office of the President Committee and provides for the procedure and ceremony for the President-assumption Elects of office.Section six mandates the Committee to facilitate the handover process from the outgoing President to the President-Elect, as well as the provision of the security detail and security briefings to the President-Elect.
