Kalonzo has declared to back up Raila in the Azimio-Oka
coalition by dropping his presidential ambition and vowed to support
deliberately his workmates. He, therefore, accepted with gratitude the position
given in the Azimio-Oka team as the chief minister.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has departed back to
the Azimio-Oka Coalition after going through an utmost silence that astounds
most of his supporters.
Kalonzo’s quest to fight for the presidential seat ended
today following his final remarks that One Kenya Alliance (OKA) had a solid
vision to achieve and that there was a need to seek partners to incorporate and
work together as people with the same goals.
He has however accepted the chief minister position given
by the Azimio-Oka coalition team once reached a consensus with the Azimio team
before deciding to ditch the coalition seeking to run for the presidency.
In his press briefing at his Karen residence, Kalonzo
stipulated that due the wider talks with the Wiper Party principals, clergy, and
other professionals made him shift back to the Azimio pact with no more
hesitation.
“After wide consultation with the party leadership,
clergy and professionals I have decided to accept with humility and
appreciation my nomination as a chief minister in the Azimio-Oka coalition when
we form the next Government,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo promised Kenyans that he has rolled into the
Azimio-Oka coalition as a member for life, throwing his massive weight into
supporting Raila Odinga to become the next president.
He congratulated the Azimio-Oka presidential running mate Martha Karua and promised to work together in achieving their ambitions.
“I wish to congratulate my learned sister the honorable
Martha Wangari Karua senior council on a nomination as the Deputy President
nominee of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party and assuring her my
full support in their presidential wing,” added Kalonzo.
However, Kalonzo emphasized economic growth and education
enrollment as the prioritized agendas in the Oka coalition and that needs a
united Government for implementation.
