According
to the Infotrak reports released earlier this week that affirmed Raila’s lead
over the UDA presidential candidate DP Ruto, the Azimio la Umoja presidential
Candidate Raila has moved to neutralize the DPs influence in the Western Region.
The western region stands out as a major vote area
with Ruto offering 30% of his government to the region upon winning the
elections, in a deal that Mudavadi and Wetang’ula are to deliver up to 70% of
the western region.
Raila had promised the vote-rich region four
cabinet slots and has now offered the region three more slots that will see Kakamega
Governor Wycliffe Oparanya be the CS of the National Treasury.
The positions offered by the Azimio head are to be
shared within five counties that form the western region as a major role of the
Majority leader post in the National Assembly is also offered for the region.
Should the Azimio Coalition bag this August
election, the western region stands as powerful bagging seven principal
secretaries, five chief administrative secretaries, twelve ambassadors, and ten
parastatal board chairpersons?
During a recent campaign trail, the former prime
minister hinted at Eugene Wamalwa’s possibility of retaining his Defence
cabinet secretary post after announcing that Kenneth Marende would take up the
position of speaker of the senate.

agreements within the parties on the fielding of candidates in strongholds to
ensure wins.
The agreement read, “Given the importance of
fielding candidates that stand a high chance of winning in their respective
seats, parties have evaluated their respective candidates, consulted,
negotiated, and agreed to complement each other by fielding the strongest
candidates from either of the coalition partners and supporting each other’s
candidates”
