Produce these 10 Documents before we Clear you: CUE tells Sakaja

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja has been instructed by the Commission for University Education to produce 10 documents that affirm he was a student at Team University before he can be cleared to vie in the upcoming August elections. In a press conference, CUE Chairperson Chacha Nyaigotti said the commission had
opened a probe into the authenticity of Sakaja’s degree following concerns
raised by members of the public.
“The commission has received complaints from members of the public and civil society casting doubt on the authenticity of the degree certificate submitted to CUE by Sakaja. The gravity of the matter raised made the commission revoke its
decision to recognize the degree qualification,” said Prof. Nyaigotti.
Sakaja’s gubernatorial bid has been entangled in a political dilemma after CUE revoked recognition of his university degree.The commission further says investigations into the matter are ongoing and that it
has written to Sakaja to provide a set of documents to prove that he graduated
from Team University.
Documents Sakaja must produce include:1.   Letter of admission from the University2.  His application for the course3.  Evidence of registration including Student ID4.  Credit Accumulation and Transfer System (ATS)5.  Course description for the Bachelor of Science in Management

6.  Course Units taken7.  Transcripts8.  Examinations schedules9.  Graduation Booklet that has his name on it10. Receipts for:

  • Application fee
  • Tuition fees
  • Graduation and convocation
  • Names of lecturers that taught
    him some of the courses
  • Any communication with the
    university staff (academic and administrative) regarding his course in the
    university
  • Graduation Photo while wearing
    the gown,
  • Evidence of the requisite
    credit hours covered

The commission has also invited Sakaja to attend a meeting earlier next to provide
further information that can aid in the investigations.
According to Prof Chacha the commission has written to Team University seeking further information regarding the matter.Prof. Chacha has also warned universities against involvement in the issuance of fake degrees, warning that any institution found culpable will be blacklisted.“The problem of fraudulent degree certificates has become endemic and bears a huge reputational risk to the University academic programmes. We shall work
tirelessly to guard against this threat to our education system and as a
Commission we will blacklist any university which colludes on the issuance of
fraudulent degrees.”
