Tujibebe Wakenya party leader William Kabogo has come
out to warn Deputy William Ruto that he will lose the August polls if he
doesn’t tame his running mate Rigathi Gachagua.
The Kiambu County ex-governor has seemingly fallen out with Gachagua, stating that he informed Ruto that the Mathira MP will cost him in his campaigns.
“I warned deputy president William Ruto not
to propose Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate and now we can see the impact
of the choice William made. ”Kabogo revealed.
He further accused Gachagua of being a
dictator and unfit to be the presidential running mate in the Kenya Kwanza
brigade.
Speaking at a rally in Thika, Kabogo noted
that he was strongly opposed to Gachagua being handed the running mate slot on
grounds that the Mathira legislator is an abrasive autocrat who will probably
rule with an iron fist should DP Ruto occupy the State House after the
August polls.
“Kabla ya Gachagua kuchaguliwa mimi tayari
nilikuwa nimepinga uteuzi wake,” he said. Kabogo further alleged that Gachagua is the
root cause of the bad blood between parties under the Kenya Kwanza umbrella.
He stated that the
Mathira Mp is the mastermind behind some chaotic scenes that have marred Kenya
Kwanza rallies of late where Mt. Kenya hailing affiliate parties under the
Kenya Kwanza umbrella have played second fiddle to their United Democratic
Alliance (UDA) counterparts when it comes to addressing Kenyans on the campaign
trail.
“Amechaguliwa ndio maneno ya UDA na sisi
imeanza kuzoroteka. Kwa sababu huyo jamaa ni dikteta. Makosa yangu nikusema
kweli kwa sababu niliambia Ruto atapoteza kura mingi kwa huyu jamaa,” said Kabogo.
However, Kabogo hinted to wave his own
political path when speaking to Thika residents, persuading them for blessings.
“Mimi nimerudi hapa kwa sababu nataka kuanza
safari yangu na sipendi kufanya maamuzi pasi kuhusisha watu wangu wa nyumbani.
Nimeona William Ruto na chama chake wana mpango wa kumeza vyama vyote na mimi
Kabogo siko tayari kupangwa namna hiyo,” added Kabogo.
Kabogo dismissed the possibility of Gachagua
succeeding Ruto as president saying he is the Mt. Kenya region kingpin
“Wewe piga hesabu ati Ruto ameshindwa na kazi
Gachagua ndio awe president, mimi ndio defector leader wa mlima Kenya.”
