Rabai Member of Parliament (MP) William Kamoti Mwamkale is dead.
Kamoti died in a road accident on the evening of Sunday, May 29, at stage ya Maziwa in Mnarani near Kilifi town along the Malindi-Mombasa Highway.

The MP’s death is confirmed by Kilifi-north police boss Jonathan Koech.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred at 9:30 PM.
Kamoti’s car rolled several times after his driver’s failed attempt to overtake a lorry while heading to Mombasa.
“I saw the rolling car and once we reached where it landed, we saw two people, one of them had bolted out the vehicle while his legs remained in the car seat. We rescued them from the wreck but unfortunately the MP died while we were trying to save their lives,” one of the eyewitnesses, Eric Nyamawi said.
Kamoti’s body is at Kilifi mortuary and will be buried today in accordance to Islamic rites.
He will be ferried to his home in Kilifi town, before being taken to his original home at Mwamruu village in Rabai at about 10am.
His body will then be taken to Kaliango’mbe Primary School where mass burial service will be conducted between 11am and 4pm. The body will then be laid to rest in his new home in Kaliango’mbe.
Kamoti was the Rabai member of parliament, elected in 2017 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Kamoti’s demise moment came after he was cleared by the IEBC, anticipating to battle back for the Rabai parliamentary seat under ODM in the Azimio-Oka coalition umbrella.
The ODM committee were saddened with news of Kamoti’s death and promised to stand with his family and Rabai people.
“It’s with shock and sadness that we as ODM have received the news of ultimetly death of our Mp for Rabai Constituency Hon. William Kamoti Mwamkale, shortly after presenting his nomination papers to IEBC. We stand with the people of Rabai. Rest in Peace Hon. Kamoti,” ODM party said.
The late MP served as the first Rabai member of parliament elected under ODM ticket. In the National Assembly, he served as a member of Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs.
Kamoti however, will be remembered as an ambassador for peace in his Rabai jurisdiction area, for sponsoring Rabai Super Cup football tournament in 2014, as a way of fostering peace among Rabai youths.
