President William Ruto has announced that construction of the Bomas International Convention Complex is progressing steadily and remains on course for completion by April 2026.
Speaking on the project’s status, the President revealed that work is being carried out around the clock, with up to 3,000 workers deployed daily to fast-track delivery of the landmark facility.
Round-the-Clock Construction to Meet Global Standards
According to President Ruto, the convention complex is being built to meet modern global conference standards, positioning Kenya as Africa’s premier destination for international summits and high-level meetings.
“The project is being delivered around the clock to ensure timely completion,” Ruto said, adding that the scale and design of the facility reflect Kenya’s ambition to compete with top global conference hubs.
Booked Before Completion
In a significant vote of confidence, the President disclosed that the facility has already been booked to host the France–Africa Summit on 12 May 2026, even before construction is completed.
He described the early booking as a strong signal of international trust in Kenya’s capacity to deliver world-class infrastructure within set timelines.
President Ruto said the Bomas International Convention Complex is part of a broader infrastructure push aimed at elevating Kenya’s global profile and accelerating economic growth through conference tourism.
“This demonstrates our commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure that propels Kenya towards first-world status,” he stated.
Once completed, the complex is expected to significantly enhance Kenya’s ability to host large-scale international events, boosting tourism, investment, and job creation.
