Nairobi – Kenya Kwanza leaders have dismissed accusations of planned vote-rigging in the 2027 general election, insisting that President William Ruto’s administration will earn re-election victory through service delivery and development.

Speaking Sunday at Regina Caeli Catholic Church in Karen after attending Mass led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo, the leaders said they fully trust the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct credible elections.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku pushed back on recent criticism, stating that no one in government, including the president, is planning to manipulate the election.

“We are focused on fulfilling our promises to Kenyans. We believe performance will secure our second term,” Ruku said. “Now that the IEBC is in place, I urge the chairperson and commissioners to move quickly to build the required structures. The government will provide all necessary support.”

CS Ruku also addressed a recent statement issued by Catholic bishops that criticized the administration. While acknowledging the Church’s long-standing role in promoting unity, education, and health, he expressed disappointment with the tone of the message.

“I was raised in the Catholic faith, and I want the bishops to know the president is working hard to unify the nation, strengthen the economy, and maintain peace,” CS Ruku said. “Government leaders are not disconnected from the people.”

Kuria West MP Mathias Robi echoed Ruku’s remarks and dismissed claims by Wajir Woman Representative Jehow Fatuma, who alleged plans to rig the 2027 polls.

“In the last election, many doubted William Ruto could win against a sitting president and a united opposition, but the IEBC delivered a fair result,” Robi said. “We expect the same integrity in 2027, and Parliament will safeguard the Constitution.”

The leaders urged the Church and other national institutions to work with the government to uphold democracy and prepare for a transparent electoral process.

As the political landscape begins to shift ahead of 2027, the Kenya Kwanza camp appears determined to frame the next election as a contest of results over rhetoric.
